Work, Play, Connect, Energize
Our mission at Townhall is to blend work and play
to connect and energize the world.
COVID has changed our lives. Companies now offer in person, fully remote, and hybrid working environments, but the trend is clear - 65% of US employees want to work remote full time1. This workforce shift has advantages and disadvantages, but one thing is consistent: Large remote meetings are ineffective and costly.
From the presenter viewpoint, the ‘engagement burden’ has increased. Engagement has always been a challenge for large town hall style presentations, but now a leader must be an expert in motivating a burned out, demotivated, and disengaged audience. Further, how does the presenter know if their message stuck or if anyone was even paying attention? From the attendee viewpoint, it’s clear that muting the microphone and turning off the camera are perfectly acceptable. Simply put, these behaviors erode a team culture and create significant waste.
As this interaction persists, the audience not only disconnects from the presenter, but also their peers. Ultimately, employee turnover increases and costs soar. Studies suggest turnover costs employers 33% of an employee’s annual salary. These times have been referred to as The Great Reallocation and The Great Resignation. Clearly, any firm that can improve effectiveness and productivity in large remote meetings will reduce costs and have a strong competitive advantage.
